Just what is his position when it comes to the special interests in washington that influence the elected officials, instead of doing what is best for the voters? Obama’s new hampshire campaign manager is a lobbyist for Pfizer drug company, and yet he claims to be against lobbying.

They were discovered by the Media and now, they want to resign from the McCain stuff. Are there more lobbyist people in the McCain side? Cindy McCain does not want to disclosure her income sources, Why?

He swore that he would not be control by special interest and that if you were a lobbyist you would not be allowed to do business in his administration, yet not only has he not removed them but it turns out that there are more now then there were before he made the comment.

Is this one of those things that he is charting up to people being to afraid to bring up?

It has been stuffed in the closet with his promise of an “open and visible” government and his promise of “no pork.”

Is it a good or bad thing to use lobbyist? Both political parties have been using the lobbyist to get different bill/things passed for several years; is there something wrong with that; if so what?

Personally I think we should get RID of lobbyists – at least corrupt ones. But….you simply can not be an effective politician that gets things done without their support – like unions and organizations etc..

I’m currently working towards my BA in political science and I’m considering law school. But I’m also finding the job of a lobbyist interesting, so I’m considering that too. What would I need (masters, etc) to become a lobbyist? Or would law school be a safer route?

Learn how to be the best salesman you can be. Learn how to make specious arguments and place your morals below that guy who would take a widow’s SS check and give her nothing in return.
Learn the teachings and practices of Saul Alinsky as well as Barack Obama did.
Then associate yourself with those who have way too much money and equally low character and have a POWER trip going on in their heads.
Soon you will be lobbying all over Washington DC.

Now other people who want position and who want to work with the Obama Administration can argue that they should be considered even though they are or were lobbyist.

Do you think that Obama shouldn’t of set such tight, inflexible rules concerning lobbyist and maybe should of allowed for a little flexibility?

Doesn’t matter, he already made the exemption. He said it, the precedent is set. Now someone can argue “Hey you gave him an exemption and I am qualified for the job. I did this and that, and I accomplished this and that.”

Still we should give him a chance and cuddle him until he gets it right.
“Obama has a right to waver requirements”

Ohh, not good. Having the right to do it and whether that right is a wise way to go is two different things.

The best lobby group to take example for your project is AIPAC, very powerful and extremly effective, just look what they did in IRAQ and in ISRAEL in general.
Thye support their agenda with LIES and DECEIPTS to achive their immoral goals.
You cant find anything better and more effective!

It seems the oil companies, wal mart, car manufacturers, etc are lobbyist or “special interest groups”
and workers unions, environmental groups, human rights groups etc are activists…

Do you see this line blurred as Mccain is under fire for his support of lobbyist that support the interest of big business?
They are attacking Obama for his support of workers unions and other groups being so called lobbyists.

Very slim. Obama should be careful about the use of the word lobbiest as he has 14 of them on his own campaign along with 2 Nation of Islam, “activists”. There is no difference beyond, one is a legitimately registered entity, the other is a racist with a big mouth. They are both special interests making money for pushing their agenda.

Can anyone explain what lobbyist are? what they do? Who they are? I heard the term many times but can quite piece it together. Why does everyone hate lobbyist? Explain please-

A lobbyist helps to influence or sway legislators, etc…politicians. They sometimes wine and dine them. The main goal is to get them to vote one way or another…the way their clients would like them to vote.
Many people saw they hate lobbyists, but not really. Lobbyists are everywhere…they are just a bridge from a client to a politician. Almost all unions, corporations, associations, etc have them. Its not like only one group is represented. Teachers, who are not known for their high pay, have unions will some of the strongest lobbying powers in the country.
